Environment Agency Unlike To Meet Targets

It has been reported today that the Environment Agency are unlikely to meet their 2018 financial target – meaning it has failed to reduce the number of high risk illegal waste sites in England.

There is a traffic light score system with Red being the least likely to meet the yearly targets set and green the most. Currently the EA sits on a red light.

The Q2 statistics for the year showed that the number of high risk illegal sites increased for the third consecutive quarter to 262, rising from 246 in Q1 and 240 in Q4 of 16/17. The target for the year coming year is 223.

The EA have said that the figures are likely to improve in the next quarter and the figures do not reflect the work being done to clamp down on illegal sites.
